Severe or inclement weather may make it necessary for DCS to open late or be closed for an entire school day. We will utilize local media to broadcast our closings. Information will be communicated to radio - WGST (640AM) and television - WSB (channel 2) & WXIA (channel 11). Please check for closings on one of those stations. DCS does follow Cobb County School System in regard to severe weather closing.

Who makes the decision to close school due to weather-related conditions?

The head of school or his designee(s) will determine if the school should be closed due to inclement weather. The administration will monitor weather alerts and advisories sent by local law enforcement and weather services regarding road conditions. Utility outages and parking lot conditions will also be considered.

Communication and Broadcasting of School Closing

Please check your local news station; DCS will update WGST, WSB, FOX, and WXIA stations when a decision is made. An announcement will be posted on the home page of our website (www.dominionchristian.org). A broadcast will also be sent to all parents, faculty and staff using the email addresses we have on file (RenWeb). Twitter and Facebook will have teh notification as well.

When is the decision made?

Decisions will be made by 6 a.m. on the day of closure. However, as weather conditions change, modifications may occur. Any changes will be broadcasted out to the school community at large.
