Are You Ready?
Our annual "All School Retreat" is the first week of October. We are fast approaching our time at Sharp Top Cove. October 2nd will be here soon, so we wanted to let you know what to expect -- particularly for our new families!
The goal of retreat is to create community within DCS as well as to set up our year with a time of worship and spiritual growth. For many students this is one of their fondest memories here at DCS. We leave the text books, homework, and city limit signs behind and focus on strengthening, building, and creating relationships that often last for life.
We have three sessions with guest speakers and worship.
We stay at Sharptop Cove in Jasper, Georgia. This is a beautiful Young Life camp facility. Our kids will stay in lodges where they will have bunk beds and nice shower and bathroom facilities. They will be grouped in those lodges by grade level. Our teachers, staff and administration will stay with the students, so they are always chaperoned. The food is prepared by the Young Life chefs and is incredible! Your student will not come home hungry!
SharpTop Cove -- information and pictures about the facilities and camp is available on Young Life's camp website at http://sharptopcove.younglife.org
Along with our great speakers and worship, we give the kids supervised free time to use the facilities of Sharptop Cove. Also, planned class activities are organized using fun games to get everyone involved!
The students will be taken on large coach buses up to Sharptop Cove on Tuesday, October 2nd, at 11 AM. We will return home about noon on Thursday. There is no school on Monday, Oct 1st (Parent-Teacher conferences) or Friday, October 5th.
We are anticipating a great retreat full of fun, relaxation and spiritual renewal. Please join us in praying that during these few days (for students, faculty and staff) that
- students would engage in making new friends and that existing friendships would be enriched.
- unity would be developed within the school body, faculty and staff.
- the gospel would be proclaimed drawing students to a saving knowledge of Christ and closer walk of faith.
